Ever since I can remember, I’ve been able to see the great potential in individuals. Nothing gives me more joy then when I can help connect people to their inner passion, purpose, and leadership style for a positive, lasting result.
My passion for coaching was ignited in the late 1980’s when I worked (for over 10 years) as a one-on-one coach and support group facilitator for Whitman Walker Health in Washington, DC. I helped many people with personal growth issues regarding career, relationships, health and wellness, gay/lesbian issues of acceptance, and most significantly death and dying. Not only did I receive superb and well-rounded training at Whitman Walker Health, I was also on the board of their Mental Health Services division.
As a Professional Certified Coach, I guide clients on matters of personal and professional leadership. In addition to one-on-one coaching, I develop and execute organization-wide programs for leadership development and manager-level development. I have a particular knack in coaching dysfunctional teams in organizations to higher levels of effectiveness.
My experience as a seasoned leader and executive helps inform my perspectives as a coach. I have contributed to the success of some of the most acclaimed educational media organizations in the country, including: Scholastic Inc., CBS/Columbia Records, Time-Life Books, National Geographic, PBS, and K12 Inc. (at the Vice President level). I have started new ventures, managed large teams of professionals, and “walk the walk” on executive leadership.
Currently, my two main roles are as President of Energy Coaching Associates (Washington, DC) and as the corporate-wide Leadership Coach for K12 Inc. I am affiliated as an Executive Coach for senior executives in the US Navy, the US Department of Energy, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, among others. In addition to coaching, I am a frequent speaker, facilitator and presenter.
A good coach can coach clients about any topic. The value of the coach is in their knowledge of and facility with the coaching process. My solutions-oriented approach as a coach helps get the client to their goals.

I am a Certified Professional Coach with 10 years experience helping others attain their goals regarding career, personal and professional leadership, and life purpose.
In business settings, the managers and executives I typically work with are overwhelmed by too many responsibilities, they feel as if they are constantly fighting fires and are always focused on fixing the problems in the business, they are frustrated that they don’t have the right team around them and in the end they feel they are caught in the middle of having to keep their direct reports and their boss happy.
I coach managers and executives that feel they are caught in the middle. Most of my clients are looking to make a difference in their organization, to climb the corporate ladder and find their leadership style that motivates themselves and those that they work with. I use a unique approach called Energy Leadership which helps managers and executives to discover the default tendencies, beliefs and perceptions that they have adopted over the years. This helps them become conscious of how these default tendencies have guided their decisions and actions and driven their business’s success (or lack thereof).
Using the Energy Leadership Development System, an executive will be able to re-create their ideal image of themselves and their role. They then follow the 8 building blocks while they see their role reemerge as an energetic, successful and immensely satisfying way to work that invigorates them and all they work with.
Life coaching works much of the same way: for those with a lack of direction, sense of floundering or those wanting to achieve something big in their life but don’t know exactly what (life purpose) or how to get started (general coaching; personal development)
