“Cancer is just a word, not a sentence”
In 1977, Dr. Susan Silberstein lost her young husband to cancer. “He left me with two babies, a broken heart, and a burning desire to make a difference.” Galvanized by her loss, she founded the Center for Advancement in Cancer Education, a national not-for-profit information, counseling and referral agency, where she has personally coached over 20,000 clients.
Now, as lecturer, as author of the book Hungry for Health, as creator of the video Breast Cancer: The Diet Connection, and as editor of the magazines Immune Perspectives and Global Woman, Dr. Silberstein delivers an important message about disease prevention through lifestyle education.
Dr. Silberstein’s dynamic presence, her passion for teaching, her clarity of communication, and her empowering messages have made her a sought-after speaker for both lay and professional audiences nationwide. With nearly 30 years of experience in the health education field, she lectures extensively on nutrition and cancer prevention for corporations, universities, medical and nursing schools, hospitals, and other organizations.
A Phi Beta Kappa and former Fulbright scholar, Silberstein has won many prestigious awards, including the Jefferson Award of the American Institute for Public Service and the Founder’s Award of the National Foundation for Alternative Medicine. She has coordinated scores of health conferences, has appeared on hundreds of radio and television talk shows, and has trained many thousands of health seekers.
