Some of my favorite quotes are those that inspired me for years before I knew how to create the life I live now.
In 1995, I put them together in my first book, Bootstrap Words: Pull Yourself UP! You'll find it written by Maura Beatty, since that was before I legally changed my name to Maia ( which stands for Maura Eileen Anne). Here are a few of my favorites:
"What keeps you from believing that the Universe is Yours? Reach out. embrace it. I say, 'The sky's the limit!' So get your bag, get your stuff and head for the stars... I'll meet you out there!" Maia Beatty
"Optimism: The cheerful frame of mind that enables a tea kettle to sing even though it's in hot water up to its nose." A Chinese Fortune Cookie I got in 1992
"In the River of Life... the sould enters the body at the river's edge and there begins a superb journey. Some are content to merely wade in the shallows near the shore. Others venture into deeper water to see how it feels to be bouyant and to swim." Found in a little newspaper in the Thousands Islands in 1990
"Someday, after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harnedd for God the Energies of Love. Then for the second time inthe history of the world, Man will have discovered Fire." Tielhard du Chardin
"To know is nothing at all. To imagine is everything." Anatole France
These days I love the quotes I find from dancers like Isadora Duncan and Ruth St Denis...
"You were once wild here. Don't let them tame you." Isadora Duncan
"The real message of the Dance opens up the vistas of life to all who have the urge to express beauty with no other instrument than their own bodies, with no apparatus and no dependence on anything other than space." Ruth St. Denis
