I help speakers, trainers, consultants and coaches to leverage their knowledge so that they can reach more people, build their business and spend more time with their families.
Together, we build you a book writing business plan that highlights your expertise and creates an overall big picture plan to your business so that you can create a passive stream of income. I combine over 20 years of writing and editing experience, with over 6 years of life coaching to help my clients overcome the challenges, develop content, and write their way to the success they dream about.
This is my passion.
This is my purpose.
Why?
Because I understand life in transition and the work that's required to realize a dream. I'm a mom, author, and entrepreneur. But it hasn't been a simple nor easy road. Sometimes it's been my own choices that I had to learn from the hard way (don't ya just love those?!), sometimes it's been circumstances beyond my control that I've had to find my way through (my mantra in those moments: breathe in, breathe out, repeat), but I've always been one who believes in the possibilities - and works to create them for myself and others.
Let’s create the possibilities together!
I published my book, Who Am I? How to Answer the Single Most Important Question You’ll Ever Ask, in 2008 and in 2009, partnered with Compass Coaching to co-created the Monthly Action Plan™ titled, Rediscover Yourself and am in the process of writing my forthcoming book, The Book Writing Business Plan: How to reach more people, build your business, and spend more time with your family.
I continue to (try to) master the art of turning the challenges of the everyday into meaningful experiences (I'm still human after all), and share the lessons of my journey with others. In my “off” time, I enjoy hiking, reading, cross-stitching, and spending quality time with my two amazing children.
Book Writing Business Plan Consulting:
We’ll work together to look into your current business, review the mission and vision of what you’re already doing, and build a plan to leverage your knowledge into taking your business to the next level. You’ll walk away knowing what steps to take, what you’ll need in order to succeed, what topics you’ll be working on developing, and an outline to start writing your next book.
Sometimes, just having a solid plan is all you need in order to make the rest happen. There are times however, when it’s also helpful to have additional support along the way.
Author Coaching:
We’ll work together while you’re writing your book so that you receive the support and guidance you need to complete it. I’ll be there to brainstorm with you, help you through the writer’s block, keep you accountable, help you face and manage any fears or obstacles that come up, challenge your thinking as appropriate and help keep you on track throughout the process.
Having support is a key element to success for any project, especially when it comes to something you’ve never done before. Sometimes though, it’s helpful to have an extra set of eyes on the writing itself as well.
Content Editing:
While you’re doing the hard work of getting it all out, it’s often helpful to have someone who’s reading your work, letting you know what might be missing, what’s working well so that you can do more of it, and how to shape your work in order to avoid major structural changes later. A content editor looks at the structure behind the writing, looks at the form and voice, looks at how something is said and whether or not the author’s message is truly getting through, as well as what’s working and what’s missing from the text. With over 20 years of business writing and editing experience, I love content editing. It’s fun to see an author’s voice rise to the surface and watch their message take shape.
While it’s often helpful to work with someone while you’re developing the manuscript, I know that sometimes the first draft gets done before we begin seeking for help with the next step.
Nonfiction Manuscript Review:
If you’ve been writing for a while and would just like someone to take a look at your manuscript, I’m happy to do that as well. It can be partially or fully complete. I’d be acting as a content editor not a line editor, focusing on structure, voice, flow, whether or not it connects with the intended audience, and when possible, may provide some suggestions on how you can use the content to build your business.
While my services are designed around the development of a book, I have had clients use my services is creative ways. For example, they’ve chosen to use coaching to overcome the internal fears of writing their blog, or using the content editing services to have another pair of eyes on their blog, ebooks, or articles. And clients often use two or more of the services together to create their own, customized package that fits their current needs. My commitment is to your success.
