Yoga and meditation have been a part of my life since I was a little girl. I learned poses off and on for many years, but focused more on martial arts instead. Then, a crazy thing happened to me. I fell in love, got married and moved to New Zealand. Within a year I was halfway around the world. Moving countries is exciting but can take a toll on you. I started meditating because I felt very lost.
I took the ten-day Vipassana Course in Kaukapakapa to get some perspective on my life. I learned a lot about meditation, but I found it difficult to practice the proper Vipassana meditation for two hours everyday. I now meditate by listening to some meditation music to get me to relax and then silent meditation.I started my daily yoga practice because I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. At first I started Iyengar classes, and it was very informative, but I'm a bit of an introvert so I currently practice at home.
There are many resources on Yoga and Yoga training, but I found very few on beginners yoga and meditation. I created Newbie Yoga so that those interested in Yoga will find an easy, accessible platform to start yoga.
