For the past 10 years, Dean has been sharing his gifts as an Emotional Growth Facilitator. Dean dedicates his seminars to helping people connect with their true self and as a result, each participant comes away with a unique personal experience. As the participants open up and learn more about what these seminars have to offer, their input helps determine the focus and direction of their seminar. It's Dean's way of giving each person what they need, and making sure they get out of the seminar as much as they put into it.
"It's a struggle for me to watch people going about their daily lives full of hurt, fear, shame or resentment, and feeling hopeless about the possibility of things ever improving. I know better! I've been there! When given the proper tools, in the proper setting, a receptive and willing participant can begin moving forward toward peace and happiness almost immediately."
Dean's down-to-earth attitude makes him easy to identify with and his unconditional acceptance of people really puts them at ease. He has a remarkable ability to connect with the people he works with and he truly cares about each participant's well-being and growth. Dean has a passion for this work and puts his heart and soul into making each seminar a life enhancing experience.

USE LOVE TO BRING VALUE BACK IN HOMES
Parents looking for a way to get through to rebellious children are now using techniques guided by the most important quality they already have—love.
Dean N. Nixon’s Value Based Parenting System teaches parents and teachers how to bring structure and value back in the environment. They’ll gain the knowledge and tools to instill and reinforce solid principles for long lasting, internal changes. Parents will discover how to motivate their children using love for a mindset they can carry with them into adulthood.
Value Based Parenting is not a program that tells parents what they are doing wrong. Instead, it is a positive and affirming way to teach healthy boundaries, which children will use to govern themselves as they get older. Children raised with this method learn to feel satisfaction and achievement in accepting responsibility, making wise choices, and contributing to the family structure.
“You know your values, you want them infused in your children, and I’m going to show you how to do that,” Nixon said. “You don’t want to be done as a parent; you just want to be done feeling the way you feel and have your voice heard.”
Nixon discovered the effectiveness of this program by going through the same process every human does—finding what works and what doesn’t—and understanding what parents want to create in their home.
“Standing in the worst of situations, holding people’s hands, and finding solutions has taught me the most,” Nixon said. “In so doing it has revealed a lot of these truths. It’s not something found in a book or learned from a professor. It came to me just by being a student of human behavior.”
Nixon is interested in long-term internal changes rather than creating short-term containment of a child and watching him or her return to previous behaviors in a short time. The only way for a child to retain what they are learning and live it is to have them find value in it, he said.
Value Based Parenting is taught through an eight-week instructional parenting course or an experiential weekend workshop. To register, e-mail turningleaf@infowest.com or call Cliff Tapusoa at 435-652-1202. The program’s principles are also available on a three-CD set for $48.99 plus s/h at http://www.ValueBasedParenting.com.
