'real natural for real life'
Courtney Findlay is a Master Soapmaker, having had her own successful little soap shop on her hometown's main street. Natural soap and other bath products were created, wholesaled and retailed, all from the store's premises. As well as creating up to 45 varieties of soap, Courtney also made lotions, therapeutic creams, bath oils, mineral bath salts, perfume oils, solid perfumes, body butters, lip balms, massage melts, and essential oil blends. This relaxing atmosphere was only increased with the addition of the works of local artisans, from handmade paper and paintings to wooden toys and unique jewelry. This little shop believed in sharing, and always set aside store space for charities and other fundraising events, as well as donating soap 'ends' to the local Food Bank and Youth Center.
Over the years, Courtney received several nominations from the Chamber of Commerce, including Entrepreneur of the Year, New Business of the Year and Best Customer Service. Because of the interest in natural products and the little soap shop, invitations to speak at events were received and requests for soap and lotion classes were happily actualized.
Appreciating and creating natural products lead Courtney to realize that not all 'natural' products are as advertised. "real natural for real life", is the adage for Courtney's website, www.natural-soap-making.com, and it is here that you will find information on how to incorporate naturalness into your life. Read about how to bring some real natural aspects into your daily journey while still maintaining your modern and sometimes hectic lifestyle.
Courtney's interest in natural products and alternative health was catapulted when she became unconscious from taking a common anti-histamine. A few years later, a prescription for a skin condition caused Courtney's heart to pound at 3 beats per second . . . while resting. It was this array of side effects together with minor allergic reactions that has compelled Courtney to research and seek alternatives. The doctor never did ask what type of soap she was using.
Courtney's writing portfolio includes a humorous home improvement column entitled "Housework", Press Releases for attending Olympic Gold Medal winners, Press Releases for the Special Athletes in the Winter Games, contributing writer to the Self Growth's '101 Great Ways to Improve Your Health' Book, copywriting for the soap shop as well as other local businesses, business newsletters, and numerous websites.

Becoming unconscious from a common anti-histamine was probably the monumental moment that lead to seeking and researching other methods concerning any aspects of health. Side effects from pharmaceuticals and allergy symptoms from the known and unknown alike, in herself and her family, have caused awareness and cautiousness of main stream products to seriously consider and be open to natural and alternative solutions.
Some other lesser known things about Courtney is that she was the best selling painter at her store, selling more oil paintings than other well known painters. Her store also carried a 'kids table' where artistic local children could sell their own artwork, from watercolors to painted rocks. Courtney also has a road named after her and can read and write Hieroglyphics.
