Catherine has over eighteen years of experience in various areas of the Fitness Industry. Though being active at an early age in yoga, dance and sports, Catherine’s journey into this amazing industry began in the late 1980’s. Her passion for health and wellness lead her through many areas of this industry from Health Club Receptionist to previous President and Director of a dynamic Fitness Training and Consulting business (Body Fit Health and Fitness Consultants Inc). During this time Catherine conducted several Fitness Seminars for VanCity Savings Credit Union and was the Public Relations Manager for Global Sports & Fitness (1999) International Strength & Conditioning Conference. In 2001, Catherine gained international recognition from her unique teaching style throughout Central & South America, West Indies (Caribbean), United States and Canada as the onboard Fitness Department Manager, Instructor and Entertainer for Princess Cruises.
Having been introduced to Yoga at the age of four and to Pilates through her dance background, Catherine has developed a reformative approach to fitness training. Catherine’s commitment is to empower her clientele to reconnect with their bodies and achieve their maximum health and fitness potential. She believes true health and happiness is the balance of body, mind and spirit. Through her unique programs and services it is her mission to help her clientele and community obtain true health and happiness through self-empowerment, education, awareness and healthy lifestyle choices.
Catherine first began a daily practice of Iyengar Yoga as instructed by her mother in 1974. In the 1990s Catherine embarked on formal studies of Anatomy & Physiology to heal her own body and then became a Certified Fitness Professional and Personal Trainer. During this time Catherine instinctively made the connection of mind and body in her own training and healing as well as with her clients and knew to seek out further studies that incorporated the psychophysiology of human movement and body awareness. In 1999, the lifetime gift of Yoga her mother gave would come full circle and would lead Catherine to Sandra Sammartino, where she studied Hatha Yoga in depth, in Sandra's Yoga Teaching Training courses at the Kairos in South Surrey. Catherine flourished under Sandra's teachings and guidance and this is where she would find the foundation for which her reformative approach and style is based.
Catherine has incorporated many techniques into her holistic teaching repertoire including studies in Northern Style Thai Massage with Sharon Brown-Horton, an affiliated instructor withITM in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Body Rolling with Taylor Carre and Sandra Sammartino, Tibetan Heart Yoga with Mira Shanni of the Yoga Studies Institute, as well as several workshops and courses in Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics, Chakra Balancing, Energy Work, Meditation and Ashtanga Yoga. Catherine will always continue to study what is near and dear to her heart, the teachings of Yoga that her mother first introduced to her, years ago.
Practicing what she preaches; Catherine is a fitness, yoga and outdoors enthusiast. She has a passion for snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking and backpacking. She has continually self-studied many aspects of human nutrition, modern and alternative health care since 1990. Catherine embodies a strong sense of well-being and a spirited belief in holistic health.
"Our bodies were designed to move. Move your body with intention and intensity." ~ Catherine Dawn
“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” ~ Patanjali
