Travel Packing List and Tips

Packing for any vacation requires considerable thought since decisions will undoubtedly be influenced by the vacation's length, itinerary, type, and your own personal lifestyles.

The following is intended to provide a suggested checklist so you don't forget to pack items of importance.

It should be supplemented by whatever other needs you may have. Forgotten items can often be purchased enroute. However, in a foreign country you may not be able to read labels, and familiar brands and quality may not be available. It is better to plan all your needs in advance of your trip.

For your trip you should pack separately:

(a) medication needed enroute

(b) tickets

(c) proof of citizenship

(d) travel insurance policy and contact numbers

Strong recommendation - Before starting your trip you should make photocopies of all vital documents such as: Credit cards; Visas; Passport pages; Tickets; Personal identification such as Driver's Licenses; Tour Itinerary; Prescriptions; etc.

Leave these with a relative or responsible person for reference if needed. It is also useful to have an extra copy with you!

As well, make a copy of your completed check list for possible insurance purposes in case of luggage loss.

Important Note on Insurance:

It is strongly advised to take out Trip Cancellation/Medical Insurance. It cannot be emphasized enough the importance of having sufficient and proper coverage especially if relying on any credit card insurance coverage. It is important to understand that Cancellation Insurance must be purchased at the time of booking to be effective.

It can get very costly to get sick in a foreign country and many countries have now made it compulsory that you have Medical insurance in place before they will allow entry.

It is highly recommended to include cancellation insurance. The Volcanic Eruption, strikes in Greece, uprisings in the North Africa and the Middle East, Earthquakes and major flight delays in caused by bad weather all cause trip interruptions or cancellations. If you take out the appropriate insurance you will be covered for any losses.
