Hanuman Chalisa is a prayer in prose form, beautified in words and expression alike. Magical it is and each of its 40 Chaupais are said to withhold hidden knowledge, recitation of this prayer builds a high moral character in an individual.

Most importantly, it is the prayer is associated with the spiritual enlightenment, always close to the hearts of hundreds of thousands of worshippers of Lord Sri Hanuman.

In old Awadhi language, the prayer is said to have been compiled by Kavivar Tulsidas ji and it offers innumerable benefits to a devotee.

Each of the 40 Chaupais of the divine prayer is abundant with substance and the prayer withholds such beauty that one is gonna enjoy listening to it even while one doesn't understand the meaning.

In entirety the poem speaks of Lord Kesarinandan's parentage, appearance, wisdom, heroic acts and his devotion Bhagwan Sri Ram and Sita Mata. So by chanting the wonderful hymn of Hanuman Chalisa, a devotee is said to be safeguarded against the evil effects that may prevail.

Ideally, one must recite this prayer at a temple or in one's puja room. Then one must sit at a place to find tranquility and close the eyes. A ghee lamp must be lighted and incense sticks used to purify the environment.

Take a picture of Lord Sri Hanuman and as you chant the Hanuman Chalisa and make an offering of tulsi, lotus flowers or a garland made of betel leaves. While one chants the Hanuman Chalisa, one must focus on Lord Hanuman. To obtain maximum benefits, the prayer must be chanted 12 times, 24 times or 32 times.

Each Chaupai of the Hanuman Chalisa has a deep significance in one's life and existence. By chanting the opening hymn, hardships in one's life are said to be relieved, and a person receives strength and wisdom. Chanting the first Chaupai, which goes "Jaya Hanuman Gyan Gun Saagar... " introduces a person to divine knowledge, and illuminates the mind and soul. Similarly, the third hymn, "Mahavir vikram Bajrangi... " lets one overcome darkness and guides one towards the right path in life.
