Teddy Roosevelt has been quoted saying: “The only one who never makes mistakes is the one who never does anything.” When I decided to pursue my long term dream of opening my practice full time, I knew that there was a lot of risk involved. Even those closest and dearest to me questioned the sanity of my bold decision. Concerned, they wondered how I would pull it off, how could I possibly think about leaving the safety net of the old job and how in the world could I make such a decision in such challenging economic climate.

While planning the ‘move’ I had to take many things into account. I had to decide if this was the right time, if I had what it take and if in fact, this challenging economy could damper my dream. I tossed and turned and debated for a very long time. I did not want to jeopardize security nor to put unnecessary burden on those around me. I knew I had fostered this dream for a while and I was convinced that I had the passion and the determination to make it work. Then after much debate, at the end of the day my conclusion was “if not now, when?”

“If not now, when?” Those words still resonate loud in my head. Not now…but when? The truth is that it might really never be the right time. At this stage of my life I am a total believer that each of us is responsible of taking ownership of what our heart desires and deciding if this is what we want. When we come to the realization that we want it so bad that if we do not pursue it, we will someday regret it, then it is time to create the right dynamics and conditions to make it happen.

This quote inspires me: “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Wow! So powerful. Why follow after someone else has left behind? Since when do we need to conform to what someone else has dictated it is right for us to do or appropriate for us to focus on? What about pursuing and following our own dreams regardless of where that leads us? I heard somewhere that success has two components:

~ Find your passion

~ Follow it!

That’s it. Once you recognize what inspires, motivates and drives you; your next step is to figure out short and long term goals that will support your journey to get there. When you start writing things down; focus on the positive. Stop thinking that it won’t work or that it is impossible; instead focus intensely on what it could be; think possibilities and start imagining what it would be like when you arrive. No matter what it is that you wish for, each day is a gift and it presents an opportunity to grab from life the things (tangible or not) that satisfy you and that will help you feel full, whole, complete and realized.

If you are stuck and do not know how to take your game to the next level; Life Coaching can be for you. Life Coaching can help you gain clarity about your goals, inspire you as you discover your talents and motivates you to draw the plan to achieve the life you always wanted. What is your dream? What are you waiting for?
