Our views and habits have developed over time and we typically underestimate the power of our ingrained beliefs, the ones deeply rooted in our subconscious mind. They affect how we think, act and ultimately, affect our results. It’s not necessarily all negative. Actually our programming can be very powerful and enable our success; however, it can also limit our ideas of what is possible in life.
In addition to our beliefs and habits, our self-image is the catalyst for our results. Interestingly, we actually have two images, the one that reflects back to us from the mirror and the way we see ourselves, our self-image. Our self-image has an astounding effect on our results as Bob Proctor noted, “Our success in any undertaking will never be greater than the image we have of ourselves.”
Our invisible barriers are limiting our success but the good news is that we have control over this. We grow up with a self-image that is formed through the input from the external environment and ongoing molded over the years through experiences.
It’s very simple: “Change your self-image, change your results!”
When we create a happy, successful and healthy self-image from the inside out and support it from the outside in, we will realize the life we want to live. Follow these steps to make a change.
From the Inside Out
• Increase your awareness: pay attention to your current image, how do you see yourself? What influenced you?
• Desired Image: Imagine who you want to be. Imagine the details and impersonate manners and behaviors of people you admire. No need to become that person, just focus on the traits you truly like.
From the Outside In
Support your image building from the outside in with the way you dress, perhaps a new hairstyle, or image makeover. Get into a new and improved exercise routine. The way you look will boost your confidence and with repetition improve our inner image.
“Act As If”
Become your new image by getting into the character like an actor. From the inside out and outside in you can embody the new you.
These simple steps will help you to reprogram your subconscious mind. Because our beliefs and self-image developed over many years, repetition is important to effectively impact your results. By reiterating your new thinking you will develop the beliefs, self-image and actions that lead you toward your goals. Your limiting beliefs will disappear over time and your results are going to correlate with your new self-image.
