Because most people associate the start of a new year with the opportunity for a new beginning, it can be a great opportunity for adding a bit of feng shui to your life and home. This year, don’t waste your time making New Year’s resolutions that you probably won’t keep. Instead, spend your time productively by finding new ways to add more positive energy to your life. By doing so, you’ll be able to enjoy a more enjoyable, peaceful and productive life throughout the entire new year.
Spend Some Time in Reflection
Before you start to focus on ways to improve the upcoming year, it can be helpful to spend some time reflecting on the year that is ending. What were some of your greatest challenges and obstacles during the year? What were some of your greatest regrets? Were there things that were especially important to you that you simply were not able to find the time or energy to accomplish? You should also take some time to reflect on the things that went well, or which make you especially happy. Once you’ve spent some quiet time just reflecting, write down some of your thoughts, dividing them into plus and negative columns. Then, as you plan for the upcoming year, try to devise ways that you can repeat some of your successes, while avoiding some of your previous shortcomings. If there are some things on your list that are especially important to you, put them on the top of your list in order to give them priority for the upcoming year.
Preparing for the New Year
After the busy holiday season is over, it can really feel refreshing to look for ways to bring order and harmony back into your everyday life. If your home has become a bit cluttered during the holiday hustle and bustle, spend a couple of days just cleaning and clearing the clutter. As you remove the clutter from your home, you’ll probably feel a lifting of the cluttered feeling inside your head as well. If the weather permits, open the windows to allow some fresh air into your home. Not only will this give your home a fresh and invigorating scent, but it is also a great way to increase the flow of positive energy into your home. If you have a Christmas tree or holiday plants in your home, now is the time to take them down. You can keep any plants that are still healthy and fresh, but plants that are wilted or dying can be a drain on the positive energy in your home. Be sure to focus on any areas of the floor that are cluttered. Try visualizing your home as a river bed, with the water flowing in through your front door. Look for any areas that would prevent the river from flowing smoothly throughout your home. If you find any such areas, clean them up to prevent them from blocking the flow of positive energy throughout your home. Once your home is fresh and clean, you’ll be ready to reap the benefits of enhanced positive energy all year long.
