It's quite natural to worry during pregnancy. In fact its really hard not to maybe that something will go wrong, or that you won't be a good mother, not have enough money or the impending birth. Any number of reasons can bother you.
A little bit of worry is perfectly normal and all part and parcel of pregnancy those raging hormones have to vent somewhere, (usually in the form of a hysterical sob about your cup of tea going cold if your anything like me.) Although if you find yourself constantly feel stressed out it may be an idea to take some time out for yourself and try to relieve some of the tension and worry. We all know that stress isn't good for the mum to be or the little baby inside, Some research has shown adverse effects but nothing conclusive. Knowing this I found myself worrying about the fact I was worrying! This is when I realised that it was time to do something about it.
I looked into a few ways to help me relax and calm down a bit and Yoga was by far the solution. I joined a antenatal yoga group, bought a few books and DVDs and took de-stressing seriously. It was fantastic and really helped me to unwind and forget my woes. Not forgetting it is a great way to feel fit and healthy beyond pregnancy too.
Pregnancy Yoga is pretty much the same as normal Yoga although some moves are adapted slightly and its all kept very gentle to keep it safe during pregnancy. I also found the breathing and relaxation techniques practised to be an amazing help during labour too
It is said that strength, flexibility, relaxation and breath awareness are essential to a healthy and positive stress free pregnancy and regular yoga practice is an ideal way to achieve this.
Yoga is beneficial in so many ways and regular practice will help you during pregnancy to keep your blood pressure normal, reduce the risk of rapidly gaining weight it will also strengthen pelvic muscles which is a huge value during and after giving birth. It is also said to help relief some of the adverse symptoms which pregnancy carry with them such as morning sickness and swelling in the face, hands and feet.
Practicing yoga increases the blood flow and this stimulates the brain and quiets the nervous system which helps you feel more relaxed and more able to cope.
