ONE SERIOUS QUESTION
I really do have a question for you, a very serious one. I would much prefer asking you this personally because I would really like to hear your answer. I would be very interested in hearing what you have to say. But, under the circumstances I just can’t do that. Seriously, I am asking you to answer this question for yourself. Think about it. I am trusting that it may have you at least think about the subject. I hope so.
The question is, why do you want to spend all of eternity in the torments of hell? I know, if you are like I was, you just don’t think about it. It is by far the most important consideration we ever have in life and yet we don’t even think about it. When I was a kid there used to be a saying, “If I go to hell I’ll be so busy shaking hands with all my friends I won’t have time to worry.” No, it’s not going to be like that. The Bible speaks of it as, “the fire of hell”, “outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth,” etc. No, once you are there, there is no turning back and eternity is a very long time.
I do want to say that I am not trying to get you into my church or into any religion. Over the centuries, religion has killed more people than almost anything else. Most of them are going to cause their members to spend eternity in hell. Think of 9/11. That was a religious event. Those who flew those planes were looking forward to meeting their 92 virgins, but instantly after the crash they realized that they had been lied to. There are a couple of groups that come around and knock on your door. They try to get you into their religion but neither of them will ever get you into heaven, just into their religion. Unfortunately, most of our major denominations right here in America are nothing more than religions. They never tell you how to enter into the kingdom of God and their members end up spending eternity in hell, even though they’ve attended church all their life.
Yes, it’s time to do something about the question I have asked you. It isn’t just some words you must say, but a total change of heart. If you want to enter God’s kingdom you must make Him the king of your life and no longer self. You truly repent for your sins, turn from them, and ask Jesus to come in and take over your life. You began to follow Him and His word. No, this is not another religion but a personal relationship with the Almighty God. You become His child.
And yes, you will need to find a good church so that you can grow. One that really teaches God’s word and explains salvation. If you do this, Jesus does promise you that He will give you a more abundant life. Why not start living a life that has more meaning and be looking forward to spending eternity in a wonderful place? The older you get the harder this decision seems to be, so why don’t you do this today, tomorrow may be too late!
