What is your ’coaching/living lens’? Is it clean? Is it whole? What does it include? How does it guide your life?

I recently spent an amazing weekend with a group of brilliant and like hearted colleagues who are all involved in a community to bring greater awareness and consciousness into the world; in many cases through coaching.

I want to share with you an amazing perspective on how you can bring more awareness and consciousness into your life and work.

I have been coaching and consulting from a systems perspective for over 15 years. Simply put, a system is a like a hologram where in any one part, one can see the whole. For example, the body is a system. What happens in one part impacts the entire body. Chiropractic is a methodology of healing that addresses one part that impacts the whole. Acupuncture can tell us how one part of the body is impacting our entire system as well.

Through adopting a systems perspective, we can address our lives, and the lives of our clients, as a whole and witness how nurturing one part impacts all of the others. And…in reverse, we can see how NOT nurturing or paying attention to one part can impact the whole; our businesses, our relationships, our life here on earth!

I am calling this a Living System Perspective. Let’s explore this concept and how it might work for you.

Our own well-being can be divided into the following areas:

Our personal identity
Our creativity
Our inner and outer journey
Our engagement with all of these
Our relationships

Each one of these areas holds a place of growth, nourishment and evolution for us in our lives. If we go even deeper, we can see that each area can be further broken down into specific aspects that can be addressed to impact these areas.

Mental
Emotional
Spiritual
Physical
Social

So what we are talking about here is that each area of our well-being can be addressed through these 5 different aspects creating a Living System Perspective.

The foundation of all of my work is a systems perspective so this really resonates with me. In my Life Coaching with Horses, I see my Equine Alchemy Herd as a system; a functioning and healthy system from and through which I learn so much about the dynamics of human relationships and social interaction.

I bring this to my coach training as well because the foundation of coaching is relationship.

While we can read about human dynamics and relationships, seeing social interaction through a herd of horses gives us a ‘living systems perspective’. Observing a live herd of horses and how they incorporate information and emotional intelligence literally give us the experience of feeling, seeing, hearing and sensing the very nature of a functioning living system.

This highly functioning and thriving system is what we are all looking for. And at Equine Alchemy, it is the basis of all of our work.

How is your life and/or coaching a system? Can you connect the dots? Need some help?
