Do you believe that something or someone out there can supply all your needs and all your desires? Can you trust the source, the universe, God, Buddha or however you choose the infinite intelligence that created us all?

I realized that when I stress myself over things, over people, when I tried to control everything that was when I got in trouble the most. So many times we think we know exactly what we really need and what will make us happy. We might be in a really unhealthy and abusive relationship, we might hold on to people and ideas that are only drugging us down and making us feel worthless, empty and unhappy because we are to scared of the unknown or because we got so used to the pain that we just don’t want to let it go. Can you look back at something you once believed you just can’t live without, even though that something was only bringing pain and suffering into your life?

There is something greater out there that knows the different between what we want and what we really need. We choose to do the things that others consider to be successful, we choose to live our life according to what they think is best for us even though that is not what we want for ourselves. Even though that does not bring us peace. Even though you are not happy, even though you are not fulfilled you chose to live this life, you choose to live for them and not for yourself.

You could have all the things that money can buy but if you aren’t living on purpose you won’t be satisfied, you won’t be happy. We chase after money, after titles, possessions and power believing that they hold the key to our true meaning in life, to our true happiness but that’s not where we will find it.

We think we know what we want, we think we know what we need, but what do we know? I really believe that people are starting to wake up and I really believe that they are starting to look somewhere else for the answers. They are starting to look within more, they are paying closer attention to what the universe has to say. If we stop interfering so much, we might get all the things that we really need and we might find our true happiness. When something doesn’t work for us, when we are in a place that makes us feel awful, it’s because we are not supposed to be there and the pain we are experiencing is trying to tell us just that. If you keep on doing the same things over and over again, how can you expect different results? “Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time.” Paulo Coelho

Allow things to just happen, allow people to come and go into your life without you interfering, without you trying to control everything and everyone. Try to do it and see how good it feels. Allow it all to just be and believe that everything we’ll be taken care of. It always does and it will always will, with or without our help.

“Can you coax your mind from its wandering
and keep to the original oneness?
Can you let your body become
supple as a newborn child’s?
Can you cleanse your inner vision
until you see nothing but the light?
Can you love people and lead them
without imposing your will?
Can you deal with the most vital matters
by letting events take their course?
Can you step back from your own mind
and thus understand all things?

Giving birth and nourishing,
having without possessing,
acting with no expectations,
leading and not trying to control:
this is the supreme virtue.” Lao Tzu

I have so many examples that happened to me in the past. People I thought I could not live without, places I thought I could not live in, things that I thought I could not give away because my life will have no meaning without them and so on. I just knew I needed all of them, even though they were only making me suffer, even though they were only making me experience a greater deal of pain. Sometimes I think we like the pain. We get so used to it that we just don’t want to give it up. We get attached to it and we see it as a routine, as something that needs to be there. This is who we are now.
Like I said before, we humans tend to do some really crazy things. “I have done that,” says my memory. “I cannot have done that” — says my pride, and remains adamant. At last — memory yields.” Friedrich Nietzsche

If you are new to this concept of letting things to just happen, it might be really hard to grasp it. You might see it as something that it’s not really possible when in fact it is. It takes practice, it takes time but it’s for your own good. That does not mean that you just sit around all day and do nothing, waiting for things to just come your way. You do what you do but after you do them you detached yourself from the outcome and allow things to just take their course. This is what life is all about.
