Today is a fresh start.
Every day, as they say, is a fresh start.
Only sometimes it doesn't feel that way, does it?
Too often it seems as though you'll never reach your goals - especially the ones that matter to you the most.
It seems like your goals and dreams are still out there in the distance, in the future.
And there is always one more thing that needs to be put into place before you will really be on your way.
How often have you found yourself thinking, "Once I get more clients, get out of debt, create a social media marketing strategy, or hire a support team, then I'll be happy, satisfied, successful, and secure"?
Do you keep looking for the answer?
Do you keep looking for the answer, the one 'thing' that will finally lock into place so that you can reach your goal?
What would you say if I told you that you can have what you really want - and have it now - and that is what will be most helpful for achieving your biggest goals?
Let's set goals that work for you.
Let's uncover what it is you really want. And then get more of that into your life on a daily basis.
Let me show you how.
Ready? Let's do this.
Grab a piece of paper and a great pen. Today is your fresh start.
STEP ONE:
Write out one of your goals. It's as simple as that. Start here. What's one of your goals? Write it down in words you normally use. Nothing fancy is required.
STEP TWO:
Now, spend a few minutes thinking about how you will feel when you achieve that goal.
Close your eyes and imagine it being true. You've accomplished that goal. How does that FEEL?
Why is achieving that goal important to you?
Identify at least three feelings or adjectives that describe what you will feel like when you've achieved that goal.
Here's an example to give you the idea:
GOAL: To get more clients
Feelings Identified: I'll feel successful, secure, and happy.
Why This Goal Is Important To Me: I want to be able to pay my bills, I want to grow my business, I don't want to have to take on a "day job", I want to know that my business can succeed.
Now it's your turn. Do not skip this step.
When I achieve this goal, I’ll feel:
This goal is important to me because:
STEP THREE:
With those feelings in mind, rewrite your goal so that it feels positive and helpful to you.
Write your goal in a way feels good when you think about working toward it.
Here are a few examples of how the sample goal could be rewritten to feel positive and helpful, using the identified descriptive feelings and intentions:
Samples of Possible Updated "Get More Clients" Goal:
+ My goal is to feel successful. Part of that will be to connect with more of my ideal clients.
+ My goal is to connect with my ideal clients as often as possible as part of growing my business and creating more income.
+ I want to connect with more and more of my ideal clients - now and as I grow my successful business.
Now it's your turn.
My updated goal that will work for me:
Great job!
You've just created a goal - tweaked it, really - that feels good when you think about achieving it.
This method of stating your goals is very empowering and liberating.
If you truly tap into what matters most to you, you'll start to get excited about feeling that way more often.
Your goal will no longer feel like a burden that you're carrying around, unfulfilled and weighing on you.
STEP FOUR:
You just identified how you really want to feel, right? So give it to yourself now. You deserve it. Stop waiting.
Incorporate into your day the feelings you identified that are associated with accomplishing your goal. Find ways to give this gift to yourself for a few minutes every day.
Now it's your turn.
Brainstorm ways to feel the way you want to feel, now.
For example, what can you do today to feel successful?
Can you look into the mirror and smile at your wonderful self? Can you take a look at the income you generated this month and celebrate that, no matter the amount? How about reflecting on all the blog posts you've written or that you just sent out a newsletter? Or review your client files to see all of the people you've helped?
Find at least a handful of small ways you can feel successful now. Not in the future. Now. And start actively building that into your day.
STEP FIVE:
It's action time. You won't achieve your goals without taking action.
The key here is to take inspired action, aligned action, for you.
If you've taken time to identify what you really want (the feelings associated with reaching your goal) and rewritten your goal so that it feels good, then you're ready to go.
In order to take solid action that is doable for you, break down your goal into steps.
Identify the first few steps you could take to begin making progress on your goal.
Then choose one step. Break it down again. Yes, really. Break down that single step even further. Break it into sub-steps, if you can.
Find a single step (or sub-step) that you can take today.
Not someday. Today. And do it.
Now you are on your way!
You really can reach your goals.
You can use this simple method to hit the "restart" button and create a fresh start for yourself.
You really can have what you desire most. And you can have it today.
You will reach your goals if you use these five steps and follow through.
Start fresh today.
Accomplish any goal you set your mind to by giving yourself what you really want on a daily basis and taking concrete action, step by step, to give yourself even more of what you truly desire.
Now that's the definition of success.
