If you want to get ahead it isn't doing what is required that will give you success, it is doing what is not asked for.
If you do exactly what you boss asks for, you are perfect at your job.
If you do something extra you prove that you are perfect for his/her job.
If you in a relationship go the extra mile you are rewarded with extra yourself.
Going the extra mile will change your life
If you keep asking for more, doing more, in all aspects of your life you will keep moving forward at a faster and faster pace.
5 Areas You Can Focus On
1. Your job
In your job you first have to perform "on the chair your sitting" but once you feel as though you have mastered your job, don't wait for opportunity to find you. Ask for more responsibility.
Ask for chances to prove yourself, to show your bosses that you should be doing more.
Whenever you get a chance be sure to make the best of it. Do it well and do it quickly. Don't keep them waiting for a report if you can do it today.
If your managers aren't giving you anything extra; once you are done with your regular work, try to find ways to make your bosses life easier. Give them a statistical report, send them an article that might be useful to him/her, create value for your bosses and they will create value for you.
2. Your family
Going the extra mile with your family is usually just giving it more time. Spend time with your children. Not just "quality time" but "Quantity time". The more time your spend with them the happier they will be and the more they will trust in your love.
You can never spend to much time with your children, they need a constant never ending stream of love, be sure to provide them that.
3. Your relationships
In many relationships the love becomes monotonous after a few years.
Make sure to keep surprising your partner, give them a present, call them in the middle of the day just to ask how they are, ask them about their day, clean the house, give them a massage, leave a note in the bathroom for them to read in the morning, anything you can come up with.
This will keep your relationships alive and well, it will make you feel better and you will get what is almost as important as oxygen; Love!
4. Your physical condition
Letting your health slide is probably the worst thing you can do, you will have a shorter life and the time you have, you won't be able to live to the fullest.
Spend some time every day working out, it can be something small like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, taking a lunch walk, picking up a sport like tennis.
The important thing is that you keep it in mind.
5. Your finances
Spending some extra time calculating your budget and making sure to not spend more than you make will save you so much grief.
If you look over your budget I can almost guarantee you that you will find some area that you can save money in, without lowering your standard of living.
Spend time finding smart solutions that might save you a dollar or two.
In the long run it will make a big difference.
How your life will change during the next 3 years
If you go the extra mile every day during the next few years I can all but promise you that you will have been promoted at least once, have a lot more friends, your income will have sky-rocketed, your relationships will be healthier, your relationships to your children will be great and you will be in better financial shape than you have ever been before.
If you don't believe me, try it out, for 1 month and you'll see the results.
If you do trust me, start now and start completing your goals!
