What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is the practice of harnessing the energy (Qi) in the environment and aligning it with your body and mind. The alignment is based on the facing and sitting direction of your house depending on the school of Feng Shui you are taught.

Your house can be facing the direction that is auspicious or inauspicious. If the house faces a natural water catchment area such as a lake or man-made pond, it is auspicious provided the water is clean and not contaminated. If you can find a house that has such positive landscape, you are bound for invigorating Qi that empowers you to live harmoniously with nature. Such a house brings prosperity to the occupants.

In the study of Feng Shui, the occupants of a property can take the right steps to benefit from good or bad features that surround an abode. If you encounter a negative structure that put your property in the face of bad energy, you should learn the techniques of Feng Shui to circumvent its negative effects or at least mitigate any dire consequences on the occupants. The bad energy can cause ill- health and misfortune in terms of relationship, career, business and wealth.

The mind and body is affected when a house is facing an inauspicious direction such as a rocky mountain, running stream, busy highway or sharp roof edge of the neighbouring house. The right techniques to deploy depend on each negative feature that the house is exposed to. For example, if the house is facing a rocky mountain, the occupants of the property should consider moving out which is the best recourse. You can still take action to avoid facing the rocky mountain by realigning the façade of the house but it will involve massing renovation.

What is Ba Zi?

Ba Zi is the practice of analysing the energy flow in your birth chart according to your elements. Each of us has 5 elements that control our birth chart which is derived from our date of birth. By having information of a person’s date and time of birth, a master of this ancient art can decipher the interaction between the 5 elements to unlock the luck of a person.

The 5 elements that compose a birth chart are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Each of these elements has a polarity known as Yin and Yang. How these elemental energies determine the course of a person’s destiny depends on many factors. Essentially, the factors that come into play are the strength and usefulness of the elements.

There are also the typical 12 animal signs that are the mainstay of Chinese Astrology. Each animal sign carries with it different types of elements. The animal signs are aligned in a birth chart according to the pillars which are broken down according to the stems and branches.

Hence, the birth chart that is constituted according to the system of Ba Zi is also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny. The pillars comprise the year, the month, the day and the hour pillar. Together, these pillars chart the life span of a person from birth to death.
