If someone has a lot going on internally and they are finding it hard to settle down, it could be said that it will be a good idea for them to do something about it. As if they were to simply put up with what is taking place, they will end up suffering unnecessarily.

The Logical Approach

Yet, while one could make a decision to do something about what is taking place within them, they could just as easily ignore it. What is taking place could not only be a mystery to other people, it could also be a mystery to themselves.

Even so, this is not to say that one will be able to completely ignore their inner world, as what they are trying to avoid will appear sooner or later. And when it does come back to the surface of their mind, it could be even harder for them to handle.

Pulling Back

It is then similar to what would happen is one was to put something small into a slingshot and to then to fire it When it is pulled back, it will go from one direction to another, and this will require a certain amount of force.

However, once one takes their hand away from the part that they were holding, it will shoot off in the opposite direction. What they did took effort, but the same can’t be said for when it fires off.

Repression

In the same way, it takes a lot of effort for one to keep their pain at bay and out of their conscious awareness. But once they no longer apply the same effort, the pain can end up coming right up to the surface.

One way of looking at this would be to say one was giving this part of themselves the energy that it needed to take over without even realising it. And what they have tried to control will have no other choice than to control them.

Pain

Still, if one is in a lot of pain they are not going to be thinking about what might happen in the future; they are going to be focused on the here and now. Their focus will be to do what they can to feel better.

This can then show that their thinking brain is offline, and this is going to stop them from being able to step back from what is taking place for them. If they were to do this, they may use the pain that is within them to move them forward.

Looking For Answers

Through having this pain to drive them forward and their mind to decide where they will go, it will be possible for them to find assistance. The first thing they may do is to go and see their doctor.

During this time, they could talk about what has been taking place for them and how long is has been going on for. They might also be asked about what was going on in their life when they started to feel and/or think as they do.

Two Options

Once this has taken place, they may come to see that they have two options: either they see a therapist or they go on some kind of antidepressants. At the same time, they might end up going along with both of these options.

If they were then to see a therapist, they could talk about what has been taking place in their adult life. And after a few sessions, one may find that their inner experience begins to change.

Another Route

That could then be the end of it and one could carry on with the rest of their life. Alternatively, one may decide to go online and not to go and see their doctor, and there is going to be no shortage of information here.

At first, one might not know what to go along with and what to ignore, and this is to be expected. If one has never looked into this area of life before and they are overwhelmed with information, it might take a while for them to take the next step.

The Mind

Nevertheless, they may find that a lot of the information that they hear about is the same, and this could cause them to come to a number of conclusions. Their mind could be seen as the part of them that controls how they feel, and so their thoughts and beliefs will play a vital role.

As a result of this, one could begin to monitor their thoughts and to look into what they believe. After this, one could start to change their thoughts and to create beliefs that are more empowering, for instance.

Progress

And just like if one was to go and see their doctor, they may find that their life gradually begins to improve. Focusing on their mind and maybe even changing their behaviour will have been the answer to the mental and emotional problems that they had (or at least made it easier for them to function).

On the other hand, one could find that this approach doesn’t change how they feel, or they may only feel slightly different. One response might be to say that how they feel is due to their genetics and/or a chimerical imbalance, for instance.

Early Years

What this could then mean is that one won’t take the time to look into what took place during their childhood. This is not to say that what took place during this time always defines how one will feel as an adult; what it comes down to is that these years can have a big effect on how one experiences life as an adult.

Therefore, if one was to overlook this time in their life, it could stop them from finding out about things that could allow them to change how they feel. For example, if one was abused and/or neglected during this time, it could mean that they are carrying a lot of emotional pain and trauma.

Awareness

It is then not going to be much of a surprise is they are finding it hard to handle life as an adult. What they are then going through is a reflection of what took place during their early years, but unless they realise this, they will continue to suffer unnecessarily.

If the body is carrying what took place in the past, it won’t matter how many years have passed. The symptoms that they are experiencing can then be seen as being caused by the part of them that is in pain; with this part of them calling out to be heard.

When it comes to looking through what happened and working through this pain, the assistance of a therapist may be needed.
