I know there is a lot of talk about the importance of being happy in your life and in your business.

It's important to include both in your overall happiness because if you are not happy in one, the other will suffer. If you are not happy with your life, your business will suffer because of it. And vice versa, not happy in your business, your personal life will suffer.

My suggestion to you is to put your life first. I always talk about building your business around your lifestyle.

As a woman after 50, who is an entrepreneur and in business for yourself (or you will be soon) you have probably raised your children, maybe did some caring taking for aging parents and now it's your time, time to get your life back to where you want it.

What time in the morning do you want to start work? When do you want to end your day? Do you want to go to the gym each morning or walk your dogs? You get to decided how you spend your personal time and then you create and design your business around that.

I realize this may be a mindset shift that does not feel right to you but I encourage you to try it on and see how it fits. You set your own hours and days for your business and chose how you spend your time.

Are you using your strengths in your life and business? Go to www.authentichappiness.com and take the VIA. This stands for Values in Action. It will take you about 25-30 minutes to take and there is no charge.

When you are finished you will gets the results of your top 5 Signature Strengths. Take a good look at them and then take a look at your life and your business. Are you using your strengths?

If you are not using your strengths there may be some disconnect or unhappiness. You may not be honoring your values the way that you could be.

What are the things that are important to you in your life? What do you value and could you do things differently that would make you happier in life and business?

People who are happy live longer, have more productivity in their work life, have better relationships and are healthier.

Are you working with people you enjoy? Are you doing the kind of 'work' with them that truly uses your strengths? Do you have fun in your business?

If you answer 'no' to even one of these questions I would like you to take some time and figure out how you can change that.

You will be much better at your work if you love who you work with. And if you are doing work that you could hire someone to do it much faster and better, then you need to hire a Virtual Assistant.

And of course, it's important that you have fun in your business and in your life. Life is too short to not have fun and having fun goes along with being happy.

Being happy is not about how much money you make, the house you live in or the clothes you wear. It's about doing what you love and having fun doing it. It's about the people you surround yourself with.

So, take a look at your happiness levels and see if there is some room for improvement. Your personal life and your business will thank you for that and so will the people around you!
