The single life has its ups and downs and being single
could either be the most exciting part of a person’s life, or the loneliest part of life for someone. On one hand, you are free to date who you want and could potentially have fun doing so. Unfortunately, this time for some is not exciting as people feel lonely and yearn for that special love. Some folks are alone by choice while others are single by circumstance. Delve a little deeper into the fun and not so fun side of being single.
What is the fun side of being single?
Being single can be very adventurous if you are the type of person who loves to experience new things. Of course, you eventually want to settle down, meet that special someone, get married and have kids and so on and so forth. While single you meet new people and have great conversations, taste great wines and venture out to new venues and restaurants. You get to do what you want, when you want and not have to answer to anyone.
Being single definitely has its benefits and you only have to worry about yourself and your children, if you have any. You are free to roam the universe, come home when you want without the questions of who, what, when and where. Also, being single is the best time to take care of you and your lifestyle. If you want to continue your education, do so. If you want to focus your time on starting a business and getting your money right, do so. You can use your relationship down time to get your body right and get in shape. Of course you can do any of these things while in a relationship. However, most people seem extra motivated to focus on themselves after they have ended their relationships or have gotten a divorce.
What is the not so fun side of being single?
When in a relationship, you have to compromise making sure you and your partner are happy. Relationships and marriages require work and if you are not willing to put the work in, you can find yourself single again. For some people it can be a very lonely time in their lives. For example, a person who has been married to someone for years may now finds themselves divorced and single again. Some people may struggle with adjusting to the single life. They may be a little stressed or just anxious as to how they will handle their new-found life without their partner. Some folks do not want to be single and love the idea of being in a committed relationship with that special someone.
There are singles who have great careers and homes, nice cars and money in the bank yet yearn for that special someone to share their lifestyles. The single life can also be exhausting and redundant. You can go on 3 to 5 dates only to find out that each person is not the one for you. You continue your search with the next candidate on the next date, asking the same questions repeatedly. If you think about it, who wants to go through that?
If you are single with children and looking for that special someone that in itself is another story. You have to think about the type of person you want to allow in your home to meet your kids. In some situations, you really have to date a person for at least six months or more before you let them meet your children. However, some women allow the person to meet their children in the beginning just to test the waters to see if they all get along.
Have you been single for a long time and still do not know how to attract that special someone?
Maybe you are not looking in the right place or direction. If you are going to the same locations and bars with no luck, it is time to change the venue and scenery. Do not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. You can find many exciting things to do in your area by searching online.
There are websites that offer deals on adventurous and exciting things to do; you just have to research. Try a new bar across town or out of your jurisdiction. Take a mini vacation somewhere and flirt with the natives. Do not be afraid to flirt. It is a new day and age and shy people do not attract the mate of their dreams. This is true because there are a lot of aggressive guys and girls in this world and if you appear to be un-approachable, you will definitely miss out. Do not let your invisible wall and your lack of smiling block your potential blessing. With more eye contact and smiling, you could present a warm welcome and invitation to someone who is looking as well. However, do not come across as too desperate. The key is subtle flirtation.
Are you too picky with high standards?
There is someone out here for everyone! Not one person is perfect. You have to review your potential mate list with a fine-tooth comb and decide that there are some things you can tolerate and some things you cannot; some things you do not want yet would be OK with accepting. Also, examine your self-worth and what you bring to the table to your potential and developing relationship. How do you expect to meet someone if your personal list is a little shaky? Think about it from the other person’s perspective, as you may have a couple of spots on your life’s record. Occasionally refresh your potential mate list. Also, do not be afraid to step outside of the box when it comes to that list.
Overall, the single life is what you make it. Sometimes what you are looking for may be right under your nose. If you have this strenuous wish list for this super god/goddess you may just find yourself single forever.
