You know the one I’m talking about, the one that when you attempt to open the door there is an element of fear that accompanies it’s revealing. Has one come to mind yet? If not, perhaps this will spark a memory of a closet in your home. One that is in dire need of an upheaval, some tender loving care and a well-needed overhaul. Do you have a closet of doom; one in which you tend not to look in because it fuels your stress? It’s the exact one that you wouldn’t even dream about opening up for a guest! Ah-ha.

So now that the light bulb has emerged inside that beautiful mind of yours and you have pinpointed your troubled closet, it is time to do something about that catastrophe of an area. By following some simple organizing steps, in no time you’ll be on your way to a closet that is your pride and joy. It won’t take very long, you do not need to spend any money and when you have completed this task I bet you return to the scene of your previous eyesore many times to clarify it’s transformation into a sorted out, perfectly arranged, beautiful zone.

~Make four labels on pieces of paper: Keep, Donate, Consign, and Rubbish.
~Take every item out of the closet one-by-one and as you do place it in the correct label pile. Go with your gut instinct and do not waste time contemplating one particular item.
~When the closet is empty it’s time to wipe it down, vacuum it out and complete any needed minor repairs before replacing any article back in the spot.
~Return all the items in the Keep pile back into the closet. Be sure to only replace items that are supposed to be in that area. Any leftover keepers put back out of convenience need to be returned to their rightful homes.
~Use coordinating hangers to promote consistency and put smaller items in baskets or bins.
~Donate your wears, consign your contents and relinquish your rubbish.

Taking care of overwhelming areas in your home provides some wonderful kickbacks such as: reduced stress, feelings of accomplishment, increased income through consignment of unneeded items, increased energy and a superb sense of achievement and pride.
