The terms clinker and cement are used interchangeably, but these two are not the same material. They are quite different from each other. Clinker is used for the production of cement, or rather, it is formed during the dry manufacturing of cement by different producers like Iran Clinker Manufacturer, while cement is the final binding material formed, used in the construction of buildings. The two different materials of clinker and cement have a different set of properties and applications:


The binding agent used in the construction purposes is known as cement. The composition of cement mainly consists of gypsum, lime, silica, alumina, and other admixtures. The main purpose of cement is to adhere to the building units like bricks and stones and hardens to make them adjoin, to form a wall of a building. It is fine powder made up of small grains. – White cement, which is made without iron oxide is used in many architectural constructions like facing panels and pre-cast curtain walls.

 Withstand High Temperature

– The high alumina cement is utilized as the cement of choice to withstand extremely high temperature. This type of cement is also resistant to frost, cold environment, acidic and basic environment.


Clinker is the nodular material formed as an in-step formation for cement manufacturing. It is used for binding cement products. The clinker is also imported to several construction sites by Iran Clinker Export and other producers. The clinker is exported by some builders so that they can mix an adequate quantity of active ingredients for the desired consistency and texture. Clinker is obtained as red-hot molten texture from the lower end of the kiln during cement manufacturing. It is the intermediate product obtained, which is then processed further to make cement and the primary use of clinker is to manufacture cement. The application of clinker is as follows:

 Binder

– Clinker is used as a binder for cement related products when it is combined with other additives. These ingredients together provide the desired consistency and binding properties to the clinker.

 Compressive Strength

– Clinker is mixed with gypsum, to provide the cement the most desirable property of compressive strength.

 Prevents Agglomeration

– The power is milled and rolled in various machines, and the clinker coats the powder to prevent its agglomeration.

 Delays Disintegration

– The clinker coats the fine particles of cement in a way so that it does not disintegrates itself when mixed for other ingredients for construction.

 Grinding Process:

The ease of grinding process is achieved because of the application of clinker. The improvements made with clinker during its processing in the kiln provides in getting desired properties for the ease of grinding cement.

 Pre-casting

– The white cement is manufactured by using white-colored clinker. This white clinker and white cement are utilized for the majority of factory-made re-casting and other applications.

 Aesthetic Purposes

– The white clinker is used for manufacturing white cement. The white cement is used in aesthetic purposes for the construction of buildings.

 Reduces Heat Wastages

– The low-alkali clinker produced in the kiln is effective in reduction of heat wastages. This helps the cement manufacturing process incur lower waste of heat and energy.

 Energy-efficient

– The modified version of clinker reduces carbon emission and in turn proves to be energy-efficient for the production of cement.

Cement and clinker are used for construction purpose. However, due to high storage ability of the clinker, it is also being exported along with cement. Both of the materials are customized according to the utility and used respectively.
