There are a lot of things I have around my desk and computer that I use to keep me on track -- quotes, affirmations, photos, and things like that. Some of them are thought provoking, and others may seem a little silly to the casual observer.
I'm going to share one of them with you today, and it's called "Eat the Frog for Breakfast."
I came across this one day while surfing around the web, and it's really quite profound in its simplicity. While I'll probably never be able to find the exact page again, I'll share the basic points with you.
Imagine that you had to eat a frog every single day of your life. (Don't question the why, just accept that it just is.)
Now, eating a frog wouldn't exactly be something you'd look forward to each day, so you'd understandably wake up each morning dreading the eating of that frog. Since it is such an unpleasant thing to you, naturally you would procrastinate it as long as possible and find as many things as you could think of to postpone the event.
As the hours passed, you'd have spent the day wasting a lot of valuable time and energy that could have been productive before facing the inevitable frog as bedtime snack.
Wouldn't it be much better to just eat the frog for breakfast?
The moral of the story: When you're facing a task that is unpleasant, the best choice is obviously to put it at the TOP of your "to do" list in order to free up the rest of your day for more positive endeavors.
As a little reminder, I have a little picture of a frog on the corner of my computer. If that's something you'd like to do, here are some frog images you may like to use. Enjoy!
