It was January, 2003… the beginning of a whole new life for me. A few months earlier, my thriving business of eight years had abruptly changed course, seemingly out of my control. Within a period of twelve weeks, my business, and my life, as I had known it was over.

For some reason that I cannot explain, I felt a sense of peace unlike any other I had experienced in my entire adult life. I did not know where the future would lead or what I would do for a source of income. I had just bought a beautiful new home with a fairly large mortgage, and I didn’t have much in terms of investments or savings. I was pretty much on my own, and yet, the peace and calm I felt was undeniable.

Along with the peace and calm, there was also a sense of excitement and child-like glee. For what seemed like the first time in my life, all possibilities were available to me. Of course, this wasn’t true. All things have always been available to me, just like they are for every one of us on this planet. For me though, this was the first time I really saw it this way, and even more important, I could really feel it. Deep within me, I knew that my life was about to become truly magical. I had no idea how the magic would show up for me, but for some reason, I knew it was true!

Around this time, and even in the process of the rapid dissolving of the business, a mind-blowing realization came to me and my business partner. We had actually created the exact situation we were in. For several years, we had been vigilantly focused on our own personal and spiritual development. We had been studying and practicing with teachers like Anthony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra, Bijan Anjomi and many others. In the process of working on ourselves, we set future goals to assist and empower women. At the time, we had no idea what form that would take, especially since we were then involved in manufacturing. The only thing we knew for certain was that we wanted to get out of that business and into something that would better serve the world.

We had no idea that the power of our vision and desire would manifest in the way that it did. To this day, I still find it amazing and almost unbelievable how everything unfolded so perfectly.

In January, 2003, a long-time friend of mine invited me to attend an afternoon tea and workshop for women. I had no idea what to expect, and at that point I was open to everything, so I went. What I experienced that day truly changed my life.

From the moment I walked into the room, I felt excitement, gratitude and connection. The room was buzzing with the chatter of women, some meeting for the first time, some old friends. The three-hour event included presentations from a charismatic and inspiring woman who planned the event, an empowerment coach and a mother-daughter team who taught us meditation. There were about 50 women in the room who appeared to be seeking the connection that the meeting of these like-minded women offered.

As the time passed and we engaged in the exercises, discussion and meditation, I felt a growing sense of belonging. Even more than that, I saw a glimpse of my future.

When the speakers presented the information to us, I saw myself in their shoes. I had a continuous dialogue playing in my head that day that said, “Sue, you can do this. You could teach what they are teaching. You could share what they are sharing. You could be the connector. You could be a source of motivation and inspiration.” I saw myself bringing women together. I saw myself holding my own events, presenting workshops to women, sharing my heart and soul with them. I knew that the path for my future was being presented to me, and I could not contain my excitement.

After the event, I remember telling the leader of the group that I would be doing what she was doing, and that even though I didn’t know how it would happen, I knew we would somehow work together. This actually happened for a short time and we parted ways.

I remain forever grateful for the path I was set on that day. I love what I do on a day to day basis. I love the many wonderful women I connect with. I love the incredible growth I have experienced professionally, intellectually and spiritually. And I especially love the way my new path serves me as well as all the women it touches.

I could never have planned the specific events that led me to this dramatic change in my business life. I could not have orchestrated the timing of meeting that day. And I certainly could never have guessed that the name “Powerful You!”, which I thought was going to be the title of my first book, would instead be the name of our women’s network. So long as I remember the beautiful synchronicity of the many people, circumstances and events that have entered my life and crossed my path, I cannot help but know that my future and my entire life is in divine order.

My mantra is “it’s all perfect”, because I know that it is!
