Many people are of the belief that they do not have time to meditate. Primarily, this is because they either have no faith in is benefits, or they don’t consider it to be important enough to add it to their daily routine.

When asked “why should I meditate” or “what are the real benefits of meditation” I’m tempted to stick the kettle on and invite them to sit down while I tell them! This is because the benefits are many, and both psychological and physical in nature.

There have been over 3000 scientific studies that I know of, into whether meditation is as effective to a person’s wellbeing as is claimed. I hope, therefore, that you may be willing to be less sceptical about the claims made below, as some of them may, at least initially, appear to be over the top. Please be assured that everything I write here, has been fully researched by many institutions, and on many people, in order to measure the effectiveness of meditating.

Increased focus – the ability to focus up to 10 x better than you can currently
Mindfulness meditation – activates the “Rest and Digest” part of the nervous system, which helps reduce stress
Concentration – helps train the brain to filter out irrelevant thoughts while undertaking a task
Self Control – neuroscientists state that 11 hours of meditation structurally changes the shape of part of our brain that is involved in overseeing self control
Reduce anxiety and stress – tests have shown a 90% reduction in stress from people who have been diagnosed with the condition
Communication – mindfulness meditation improves marriage relations through better communication
Emotional well-being – improves self-esteem and optimism
Memory – increased memory retention, cognitive skills and the processing of information
Health – improves heart rates by reducing blood pressure
Pregnancy – encourages intense bonding between mothers and their babies

As you can see, the effects are wide reaching and can help you improve your life in many different ways. That’s not to say that this is a cure-all treatment – far from it – but it is proven many times over that it can either increase the positives or decrease the negatives in people’s lives.
If this has persuaded you that meditation should form part of your daily life, make an appointment to see me and I will help you get started. A session usually lasts around one hour, or you can book a full day course. For more information, call me on 07830 019513 or book online - http://www.jasbassi.com/contact-me/
